UptimeBoss Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how uptimeboss.io uses cookies and similar technologies on the public site and client portal, what each cookie is used for, and what choices you have. At the time of this publication, UptimeBoss uses essential session and security cookies only.

Last updated: April 24, 2026 Current cookie posture: essential cookies only Contact: support portal

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files or similar storage technologies placed on your device when you visit a website. They can remember information about your session, settings, or interactions so the site can work properly or provide additional functionality.

2. Why we use them

UptimeBoss currently uses cookies only where they are needed to provide the portal and its security features. That includes keeping a user session active, preserving secure form state, and protecting sign-in and account workflows.

We do not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or marketing pixels on the public UptimeBoss site.

You may also see an informational cookie notice on the site reminding you that only essential cookies are active and linking back to this policy.

3. Types of cookies we use

  • Essential first-party session cookies: required for the secure operation of the client portal and related forms.
  • Security-related session storage: used together with server-side records to maintain CSRF protection, sign-in state, and other security controls.

Because these technologies are strictly necessary to provide the portal and security features you request, they fall within the usual exemption for essential cookies under common cookie rules. We still describe them here so the use is clear and transparent.

4. Current cookies

Name Provider Purpose Duration Type
uptimeboss_portal (default session cookie name; the exact name may vary if deployment configuration changes it) UptimeBoss Maintains the portal session, supports secure sign-in, and preserves server-side session state used by forms and account workflows. Session cookie. It normally expires when the browser session ends. Strictly necessary / essential

On HTTPS requests, this cookie is configured for secure transport and is marked HttpOnly. It is currently set with SameSite=Lax to reduce cross-site request risk while keeping normal portal navigation working.

5. Third-party services

The main UptimeBoss site and portal currently do not deploy third-party analytics or advertising cookies. If you visit external services linked from the site, including the support portal, those services may use their own cookies under their own notices and policies.

6. How to control cookies

You can configure most browsers to block or delete cookies. However, if you block essential portal cookies, sign-in, account activation, password reset, and other secure portal functions may stop working correctly.

If UptimeBoss introduces non-essential analytics, advertising, or personalization cookies later, we will update this Cookie Policy and add consent controls where required before those technologies are activated.

7. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, legal requirements, or how the site and portal operate. The updated version becomes effective when posted with a revised effective date.
